On Wednesday we welcomed the Sainsburys Road Safety team and their lorry!
First of all we watched an interesting presentation and some videos about the Sainsbury lorries and how important road safety is. We thought about the different things we could do to ensure we were being as safe as possible on and around the roads. We then had the opportunity to look around the lorry and see the different features as well as explore the various blind spots the driver has.
In class we created our own road safety posters and thought about the best ways to stay safe.
As part of our computing topic, Robotics and Systems, we used the Lego WeDo to design and make flood defences for an Anglo-Saxon village.
To learn about the different phases of the moon, we created our own charts using Oreos.
As a brilliant beginning for our Blast Off! topic, we took part in a drama workshop.
To investigate the opposing forces buoyancy and gravity and how they affect an objects ability to float we designed and built boats.
During our science class, children investigated the effects of friction in order to discover the best material for an Olympic cycling track.
As part of our Olympic topic we have been looking at life in Ancient Greece. Combining our history and art lesson we looked closely at different artefacts and used the iPads to research them. We then drew our artefacts in our sketchbooks.
