Merry Christmas!

We have been very busy in Nursery this term and the children have worked hard learning the songs for their Christmas show. Thank you to everyone who came to see the children sing, they were fantastic!

Our topic after Christmas will be ‘People Who Help Us’ and all the children have been sharing their ideas about what they would like to learn and find out during this topic.

Just a reminder that school closes for Christmas on Tuesday 20th December 2016 at 1.30pm. The children will return on Monday 9th January 2017.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

End of Summer Term

It has been a successful year in nursery.  The children have been busy exploring and learning lots of new things.  They have come on in leaps and bounds and we are very proud of all of them, as we are sure that you are too!  Thank you for all your support this year.

The start of the Autumn term at Downfield is Monday 5th September 2016.  New parent consultations will take place during that week.  If you require any information then please contact the office.  Nursery children return week beginning Monday 12th September.

We look forward to seeing you all then.  Have a lovely summer!

Summer Term 1

This half term our topic is Let’s Pretend.  We have spoken about how we use our imagination to take on different roles, create different characters and pretend to do things that we wouldn’t normally do, like go on a bear hunt.  We have had the Science Museum come to the school where the children enjoyed a bubble workshop.

Remember it’s Bank Holiday this Monday 2nd May and Nursery is closed.  The May Bank holiday is always a sign that summer is on the way, so please do ensure that your child is sent to school with a sun hat and on really hot days that they are protected with sun cream.  Thank you!

Spring Term 2

This week the children have taken part in ‘ICT’  week. We have used iPads, iPods, computers and the Interactive White board to play games, take photographs and investigate Sand and Water. On Tuesday The Chocolate Film Company visited our Nursery and helped the children to make a film about Spot The Dog. We had great fun being Directors, Actors and Camera operators. The children participated in an E Safety workshop and learnt how to stay safe when using the internet and playing games online.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Parent consultations.

Nursery will be closed on Friday 25th March and Monday 28th March for the Easter weekend.

We finish Nursery for the two week Easter holiday on Friday 1st April at 1:30 pm prompt and return to school on Monday 18th April.

Thank you from The Nursery Team
