World Book Day
Today in Reception A the children celebrated 'World Book Day' 2020. World Book Day is the biggest celebration of its kind. The aim of it is to celebrate authors, books, illustrators and - of course - reading! The children have come as their favourite characters from books and of course have had the opportunity to read and listen to many different story books. The teachers think they look great!
Today the children were visited by our local librarian, Elaine, who works at the library in Cheshunt. The children were very excited to meet her and enjoyed their discussion with her about the library. Some children, who are already familiar with the libraries resources, discussed visits that they have been on in the past. Elaine told the children that they are able to take out lots of books at a time if they have membership!
Elaine then talked about and read a number of different genre books to the children. At the end of her visit she gave all the children a sticker and book to take home and enjoy.
Christmas in Reception A
The children have had a great time being involved in all our Christmas activities. For Christmas dinner the children made reindeer hats! The dinner was enjoyed by all!
All About Me!
To start the term our topic will be 'All About Me!' Children will have the opportunity to share information about themselves with the teachers and other children in the class. They will discuss their families, traditions and customs. The children will think about similarities and differences between themselves and how these are positive things. Children will begin to look at class boundaries and will be introduced to the school rules of 'Ready, Respect, Safe'. They will also discuss how to be a good friend through discussions and looking at social stories.
Welcome to Reception A
We have had a fantastic start of term in reception and the children have settled very well into their new class. We are enjoying getting to know each other!
