Ready, Respect, Safe

At Downfield we encourage all members of the school community to recognise the importance of three key words: Ready, Respect, Safe. We try to build an understanding of these words into all elements and aspects of school life.

The children have been exploring these words in our recent assemblies and Key Stage 2 children were set a challenge. After watching an inspiring video of a rap made by children all about the concept of respect, the children were challenged to write their own. You can see the video below.

Our behaviour policy:

At Downfield school we have a graduated response to behaviour which follows 5 steps.  Each step has it's own emoji to help support younger pupils and pupils with additional needs.  When we speak to pupils about behaviour we firstly relate everything to our 3 school rules of Read, Respect and Safe. Then next we use the steps with the emoji images to support. Below we have attached an easy to use poster about our steps and a copy of our emojis.
