Year 1DH

In November we were fortunate enough to welcome Ranger Stu from Cedars Nature Centre. He brought with him a range of different animals such as; tortoise, armadillo, tarantula, snake and scorpion. He taught us some fantastic facts and told us lots of information about the classification of animals. This linked perfectly with our topic 'Astounding Animals.'  The children had an amazing time and our now enjoying in literacy writing a recount all about their experience.

Summer term

For the first half of this term the children have been busy working hard in their new topic - The Enchanted Woodland! The children have been making salt dough and using leaves to imprint the dough. They then had a go at painting the salt dough using watercolours - the finished result was really effective! They have also been looking closely at the work of Andy Goldsworthy, before recreating their own sculptures using naturally found resources. Parents, have a look at Seesaw to see some of their fantastic work.
